Conditions continue to improve on the Oroff Mlnins; company's property, located In the Lincoln milliner district, as the development de-velopment work progresses. a-?ording to General Manager R R. Tanner, who has arrived In Salt ldko. A new strike of high-grade copper or and one of high-grade high-grade lead -silver ore were encountered on the Key claim of the property, just be- 1 fore General Manager Tanner left. Superintendent Su-perintendent Daniel Ferguson has a force of miners engaged in developing the new strike. For the purpose of cutting the ore at greater depth the work of driving a drift along the contact between the granite and the limestone off the eighty-foot level of the Granite shaft is being pushed rapidly ahead. Th drift is now In about forty-two feet and when the fissure carrying car-rying the ore near the surface Is encountered en-countered It will be cut at a depth of ltifl feet from the surface. Due to the dip of the fissure, there will be considerably more stoping ground, however, than 160 feet. Pioneers residing In the vicinity of the property Bay that the highest grade silver-lead ore ever shipped to the old Lincoln smelter was sent from the Key claim of the Croff property. The work to date has been largely for the purpose pur-pose of de termini ng the best method of pr,0CG4ure. In prospecting the Key claim recently t lie management, encountered an ore stringer at (he hottum of the Galena .shaft, which had been sunk thirty feet and which followed the bedding planes of the limestone that dip to the east. In drifting to the west a body of ore was encountered and stuped out. A crosscut was then driven westerly, which cut through a fissure I hat strikes northeast and southwest and which dips to the west. The fissure, shows between eight and four-teen inches of high-grade lend-silver ore ou the foot-wall side and in the same crosscut there has been encountered about four inches of high -grade copper ore. Lying west of tlio fissure and parallel to It Ib a porphyry dike. Down the hillside about 100 feet westerly from the Galena shaft is the Granite shaft that has been sunk on the contact between the granite and the limestone. Ore shows all the way down the .shaft. The drift to the southeast Is being driven to cut the fissure In which the ore shows near the surface. |
