Colonel woolley brought eight animalfl to the state fair and ail of them were prize winners five firsts and three seconds. Tho only other oth-er winners in the Guernsey class were from the 'Utah state prison, and those animals were raised by Colonel Woolley and sold to the state institution. "While there may be other Guernseys in the state, Colonel Woolley has the only registered herd of that class in the state, and the majority of other regis tered Guernseys in Utah came from his herd. Unquestionably he would have taken away more prize ribbons from the state exposition had he cared to bring more animals down from his farm near Richmond, Utah. The hull of the herd was left at home because he was too bit? i to move with safety, aud many other splendid animals we're not brought for various reasons. Colonel Woolley has been interested in cattle herds for some time, and especially espe-cially since dairying became such an item in the Cache valley. From the 1 first he has sought to raise only thoroughbred thor-oughbred animals of the best classes and j in recent years his attention has been devoted almost solely to Guernsev cattle cat-tle According to livestock expert's who visited the fair, the animals placed on exhibition by Colonel Woollev are of an exceptionally high grade and would be among the winners at any exposition in the country. |
