Show JEFFERY IMS CUM FIELD Will Market Low-priced Sedan Which Can Be Changed IntoTouring. TIip Thomas B. Jr:fY"rv company, not eatifierl with astonishing the motor car world with tlm famous Jpfl'nry four at if lOfin, has ono one stop further by invading in-vading the. im-losc-l car field with a i'oa'it pussossinc all Ihe traditional luxury lux-ury of tins type of car without the traditional tra-ditional excess in price. The new car announced this week is the .loflVry four sedan. It has all the richness of finish, the grace of line and luxury which has heretofore characterized character-ized the finest custom-made inclosed cars yet the price is only $110o and the sedan top is easily removed, converting con-verting the car into an open machine at the first approach of warm weather. The contour of the now top, which is part of the .leffery sedan, harmonizes perfectly with the body proper. In fact, the entire car is built complete from the ground up in the Jeffery factory, fac-tory, and it looks for all the world like a permanent inclosed car. The roof of the car is of laminated wood construction covered with a very fine quality of top material. The rear section of the body of the top is metal, and. the supports aud sills are of a very substantial character. Yet with all this strength and appearance of permanence, the weight of the top is but approximately approxi-mately 200 pounds. Taking into consideration con-sideration the removal of the summer top, this makes a total added weight of a little over 100 pounds. The glass in the windows is of tliree-sixteenths tliree-sixteenths of an inch crystal plate, ground and polished. In the broad forward for-ward windows and in the doors the glass is arranged to drop half way. The rear window is extra large, providing more than ample light and vision. This window win-dow and the two rear side windows are provided with silk portiere curtains. Because of the substantial construction construc-tion of the top and careful padding between be-tween the top and main body of the car, there is absolutely no rattle of any kind, even over the roughest roads. This careful padding also protects the ton of the touring body, doing away withrthe need of refinishing when the top is taken off in the summer. The true sedan characteristics are retained re-tained by the use of the regular Je fiery four divided front seats, thereby eliminating elimi-nating the two forward doors and doing away with the usual panel between the rear and front doore. This gives the driver a broad, unobstructed view, and permits the long- unbroken lines which are so in demand in the high-priced inclosed in-closed cars. |
