Show COUNTIES WILL HELP COMMERCE CHAMBER Agent of Manufacturers' Association Returns With Encouragement for Permanent Exhibit. Prospects for the establishment of a chamber of commerce iu the new state house are exceedingly bright, according accord-ing to reports brought by Joseph Shop-ard Shop-ard of the Manufacturers ' association, wbo has been iu conference with tho county commissioners of various counties coun-ties in the state for tho past few weeks. Mr. Shopard returned last night from Tooele county and announced thai so far he has visited Tooele, Davis, Utah, Juab, Weber, Boxelder, Cache, Summit and M-organ counties and all except Boxelder aud Weber have agreed to join in the movement, furnishing exhibits ex-hibits as well as their proportion of the expense for the mainteuance of the institution. The Boxelder representatives favor the movement, he declares, but are not kindly inclined toward Salt Lake because be-cause of the official routing of the Lincoln Lin-coln highway. Inasmuch as the chamber cham-ber of commerce is to be a state institution insti-tution and in no way responsible for the routing of the Lincoln highway. Mr. Shepard believes that the Boxelder officials offi-cials will join in the movement if other counties come in. He also entertains hopes that the Weber county officials may change their minds. The purpose of the movement is to place on display in the new capitol permanent per-manent exhibits of the products of each county and the state as a whole, for the inspection and information of thousands thou-sands of outside persons who will visit; the state house annually. It is intended j that each county will have its own booth in which to display its resources and products. For this reason, the chamber of commerce, com-merce, fb bo a success, should have displays dis-plays from each and every county in the stt:te. Among the exhibits wanted are agricultural, horticultural and mineral min-eral products, manufactured articles, educational exhibits of 'various kinds, photographs of typical scenes, public works ot any kind aud uuusual and natural attractions. In addition to the exhibits it. is purposed to have on hand for distribution at all times literature pertaining to the various resources of the individual counties, such as vacant lands and authentic information as to land and opportunities for settlers aud investors. |
