Show PAID FOR SCALPS OF WOLVES NEVER KILLED EAU CLAIRE Wis., Xov. R. Wholesale Whole-sale frauds, which arc estimated to have cost the state $300,000 in rhe last few vears, in connection with bounties orj the scalps of -wolves, which were never killed, are alleged by Deputy Conservation Conserva-tion Warden Henry' Lee, who has beon carrying on an investigation here. S. C. Ferguson and James X. Xieholson, former for-mer presidents of the village of Fair-child, Fair-child, today pleaded guilty to issuing falr,e certificates on wolves which were not killed. XicholFon was fined $240 and Ferguson $120, and it was shown that the village presidents got $5 for each false certificate issued. Five other Fan Claire citizens hare recently been fined on similar charges and more prosecutions are threatened. |
