Show j Elaborate Preparations lor the I M. and M. Excursion to Logan on Monday. AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE WILL TAKE ACTIVE PART Many Interesting Affairs Have Been Arranged for Pleasure Pleas-ure of Visitors. Unless soiiio of the arrangements being be-ing made for tho grand boosters' excursion excur-sion to Logan Monday miscarry, the event will be one of tho largest affairs of the kind ever held in this state. .Tohn T. Caine, Jr., George Thomas and A. K. Arnold, three instructors from the Agricultural Ag-ricultural collego at Logan, will be at the train in Salt Lake City Monday morning to act as the personal representatives repre-sentatives of tho college to the hundreds hun-dreds of people who nro cxpocted to make the trip. Lou J. Haddock, secretary sec-retary of tho Manufacturers and Merchants' Mer-chants' association, who has been absent ab-sent for tho past two weeks in tho cast on matters connected with bringing a new industry to this city,, also will bo prcsout, and other officers of the association asso-ciation and many of the leading and representative men of this citv and Ogden Og-den aro expected to tako part in tho excursion. The special train chartered for tho occasion will leave the depot of the Oregon Ore-gon Short Line railroad. at 7:n0 Monday1 morning and will arrivo in Logan lato J in tho forenoon. Tho college authorities authori-ties have arranged to havo 100 carriages i in waiting at the station and tho visitors vis-itors will be driven at once to the Agricultural Ag-ricultural college, where thev will remain re-main long enough to seo the institution thoroughly and to gain some idea of the manner in which agricultural education edu-cation is carried on. Educators for Guides. Many instructors for tho institution will be present, to act as guides and many of the students will also assist in explaining the various things about the place. Lunch will be served here to all the visitors, the food being prepared by mu .tuuuj; i.iuiuh luo uepanuieut ol domestic science. Ample timo will be allowed to permit per-mit the visitors to see everything about the institution and they will be taken back to the city again in order to attend the mass meeting at about 3 o'cldck in tho afternoon. Arrangements are being made to conduct an expedition to Logan cairyoli and it will bo possible for thoso who wish it to see something of tho beautiful canyon and to partako of din--nor at ono of the famous rosorts of the place. Dinner also will bo served at the hotels ho-tels for those who wish it, and everything every-thing possible will bo done to show the hospitality of Logan citizens and tho points of tho city. The return train wiJl leave Logan at S o'clock in the evening, so as to reach Salt Lako City again before midnight, i Reports from the collego town aro enthusiastic en-thusiastic and preparations are being mado for the entertainment of at least 1000 guests. Officials of the M. & M. and of the Oregon Shore Lino say that tho actual number who will take "in tho affair will not fall far short of this number. Mass Meeting. The mass meeting which is to bo held in tho Logan tabernacle will be the great feature of the expedition, and here tho visitors will bo regaled with special organ recital and by numbers by the tabernacle choir. The Logan City baud aind tho college baud will be in attendance during the day and it is expected that their performances will prove no small contribution to the festivities. fes-tivities. At tho meeting the list of speakers will include prominent officers of the college and of tho M. & M. of this city, and it also is intended to secure se-cure Governor Cutler and United States Senator Georgo Sutherland. The mass meeting will, be under the chargo of the Lo;an Commercial club. It is tho intention of tho promoters to provide everybody present with badges and boosting litcraturo of all kinds, so thafc the affair will be in fact what it implies in name. Those who havo never seen thsr wonderful Cache valley and tho beautiful Bear river canyon, can-yon, "which forms the entrance to the valley, are urged by tho promoters to tako advantngo of this occasion to join tho boosters on Monday and make of the affair a grand celebration which will be ono of tho features of the season. |
