Thero were eight t drunk cases, all receiving tho usual fine of $5; one vagrant va-grant case, which was soon disposed of by imposing a fine of $30, and a caso i of violating tho sidewalk ordinance. Tho defendant in this last case did not ap- pear in court, so the bail of .fo was j forfeitod. A caso of petit larceny against j Frank Howery, a Mexican, occupied ' soyoval minutes, and after hearing the evidence Ilowery was committed to the city jail for seventy-five days in default de-fault of paying a fino of $75.
