Show THE LOST PACKER capital news boise idaho J A czizek president and general manager of the lost packer mine on loon creek who has been visiting in the city for several days is very enthusiastic over the prospects on that creek the lost packer has passed from the stage of a mere prospect to that of a recognized mine during the summer tons of high grade ore have been shipped from the mine to the smelter in salt lake none of the ore shipped has returned less than to the ton and from that figure to over in addition to that which has been shipped they have about tons piled on the dumps which will run from 60 to 80 which will be worked next summer as soon as a mill has been installed A shipment of this ore has just been made to salt lake to determine the best process for working it will run another tunnel work on no 3 tunnel has been commenced it will have to be run in 1400 feet to tap the known ore body at a depth of feet the tunnel is being run on the vein and some high grade ore is expected to be taken out as the work progresses the no 1 tunnel cuts the ore body at a depth of feet and the no 2 tunnel at a depth of feet in speaking of the property yesterday mr czizek said the no 2 level has determined the continuity of the ore shoot and makes it a mine instead of a prospect the no 3 will make it famous and mark it as one of the greatest mines in idaho or the northwest nothing under the foot level runs less than to the ton our last shipment for this season is now on the way to the smelter our mules have been turned out and we will devote all our times this winter to development work next summer we shall increase our pack train to 30 mules for taking out ore we contemplate constructing A a wagon road next summer to the mine we have not determined ter mined whether we will construct it from custer or from stanley basin the latter course would be much better for boise as it would insure the trade of that countis for this city if we go by custer it means that the trade goes to salt lake boise is the natural place for the people to come to as it is not only the capitol of the state but headquarters for idaho mining men and is as good a place to trade as salt lake the people of boise do not seem to appreciate the value of that country or they would be looking after it for trade mr czizek says that all of the properties in that section are looking well and give great promise for the future the people who own the sunbeam have installed a 40 ton mill and are obtaining good results its capacity however has been found to be too small and will be increased to ton capacity by january 1 the valley creek mine which is largely owned by judge lyttleton price in stanley basin will soon have a 20 stamp mill in operation era tion throughout the entire section he says the work is progressing favorable and next summer will witness a great deal more activity in the district |
