Show TO TAP WYOMING OIL FIELDS cheyenne industrial bourna mr J H lobell director and american representative of the belgo american drilling trust says that the trust will begin the construction of a railroad line to lander before the opening of the year the route has been surveyed but is withheld from the public at this time for business reasons the line will be of standard gauge and numerous spurs and branches will be laid one of these will open the salt creek oil cil field sixty miles from casper and another will probably be laid to thermopolis Thermo polis contracts for construction work have been let and mr lobell goes to europe next month to make final arrangements with the directors he will not return to fA america samerica until february but in the meantime the work word will ija ij a be pushed the belgo american trust is now negotiating for control of one of the largest corporations po in wyoming and a deal is practically assured the trust also holds options on large areas of oil land in the powder river New newcastle newscast cast e and salt creek fields and is con considering extensive purchases specifications ficat ions have been prepared for ies one of which wil be built at lander and the other probably at or near orin junction senator C D dark clark and congressman F W mondell both extensive owners of oil land have turned over to the trust their most valuable holdings with the understanding that they shall receive an adequate compensation in case the drilling and development work to be prosecuted by the trust turns out successful success fu ly governor chatterton is assisting the trust in every way to carry out its plans for the development n ent of the state generally the trust already controls large holdings in the salt creek lander and salt wells districts one tract of its land extends from casper across the dutton basin and rattlesnake mountains to lander five wells are being drilled at salt wells and from thirty to forty men are employed constantly st prof W C knight was in charge of the drilling operations receiving a salary of a year for his services but since his death state geologist H C beeler and L C an oil man of much experience in the kentucky and indiana fields have been employed mr will have charge of the practical work and next week leaves with mr lobell lobe 1 I for lander to superintend the commencement of drilling work near that place the belgo american company has taken a lease on the entire kent bank building here and is fitting out a handsome general office on the ground floor the second story will be used by the corps of engineers in charge of the railroad construction |
