Sill, Assistant As-sistant to the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at the Bountiful Utah South Stake Conference Saturday and Sunday, March 2U and 21 in Bountiful. ELDER SILL is a prominent businessman, educator, popular speaker, and a prolific writer. He is a retired insurance executive. He is the author of thirteen books on religious and' social themes. Since April 17, 1960, he has been the speaker over Radio KSL on the longest continuous nroeram on the air, "Sunday Evening on Temple Square," which is now in its 47th year. HE IS the speaking voice of two weekly radio broadcasts which together are released over more than 370 United Slates radio stations. Titles of Sterling W. Sill volumes include: "Leadership I," "Leadership II," "The Glory of the Sun," "The Upward Reach," "The Law of the Harvest," "The Way of Success," "What Doth It Profit," "The Miracle of Personality," "The Quest for Excellence," "The Power of Believing," "The Three Infinities," In-finities," "The Strength of Great Possessions," "Making the Most of Yourself," and "The Keys of the Kingdom." ELDER SILL served for eleven years as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Utah and for two terms was chairman of the board. The esteem in which he is held is indicated in the action of the University in awarding him an honorary LLD Degree and naming a building, "The Sterling W. Sill Home Living Center" in his honor. He was born March 31, 1903, in Layton, to Joseph A. and Mariotta Welling Sill. He received his early training in Davis County Schools, Utah State University and the University of Utah. He taught school for two years. ELDER SILL entered the insurance business in 1927, rising to assistant manager of the Salt Lake City office of the New York Life Insurance Office Of-fice in 1932 and manager in 1933. Under his direction the In-termountain In-termountain General Office became the largest office of the pnrirp rnmn.'inv in annal sales volume. On Jan. 1, 1940, he was appointed inspector of Agencies for seven western states. On Sept. 27, 1934, he was awarded the C.L.U. degree from the College of Life Underwriters in Philadelphia, the first Ulahn to earn this degree. HE WAS President of the Salt Lake Exchange Club in 1938 and of the Suit Lake Association As-sociation of Life Lln-derwriters. Lln-derwriters. 1935-36. In 1960, he was awarded the Carnegie Hero Medal by the Carnegie Hero Foundation of Philadelphia. Pa. In church activity he filled a mission in the Southern States 1924-26. He was appointed ap-pointed to the High Council of Bonneville Stake. 1946-1951, member Deserct Sunday School General Board, 1951-1954. He was called to serve as an Assistant to the Council of the Twelve, April 6. 1954. He married Doris Mary Thornley Sept. 4, 1929. in the Salt Lake Temple. They have two sons and one daughter.
