Show m commiftco Gonsifeo By ROSELYN KIRK FARMINGTON - The mechanics for setting up an Equal Employment Opportunity Oppor-tunity (EEO) committee is being considered by the Davis County Commission. They assigned as-signed Richard Nelson, county EEO officer, to investigate inves-tigate whether an employees' personnel committee would accept that assignment. MR. NELSON said the county EEO plan calls for the creation of a nine-member committee, but suggested that number be reduced to five for efficiency. The com mittee is a part of the county EEO plan which investigates discrimination in employment employ-ment on the basis of age, sex or national origin. Mr. Nelson said specifications specifica-tions call for two members of the committee to be minorities minori-ties and two to be women. He suggested that the commissioners commis-sioners select members of the committee from county departments which they administer, ad-minister, with two employees being selected from Commissioner Commis-sioner Wendell Zaugg's departments and one each from the departments administered ad-ministered by Commissioner Glen Flint and Commissioner .C.E. Moss. THE PLAN also calls for one member to be selected from names submitted by elected officials. As proposed, personnel director Earl King would be an ex-officio member of the committee. Commissioners suggested that a simpler solution would be to use a personnel committee, com-mittee, formed to supply input in-put to the county merit plan, for both purposes. When the' committee is formed, it will review and make suggestions on how to implement the EEO plan, Mr. Nelson said. MR. NELSON was told to check on using the double-duty double-duty committee and come back with a recommendation to the commission. Commissioners discussed the number of minorities presently employed by the county, saying that four were employed by Community Ac-lion Ac-lion Program (CAP), one in the Clerk-Auditor's office, one in the Council on Aging, three in mental health and two in the sheriff's office.
