Show Scripture Chase The Excellence Through Scriptures (ETS) Program has become a familiar phrase to many Latter-day Saint youth in the area who are participating in seminary. This scripture activity is aimed at increasing the student's knowledge and familiarity with the scripture text they are studying in their -classes. AFTER A year long period of preparation, many students from this area will meet for the annual district scripture competition to be held on April 14, at 7:00 p.m. Jr. High Seminary students will meet in the Woods Cross Slake Center, 2074 So. 800 West, Woods Cross, and the three Senior high seminaries will send their students to the Bountiful, Utah Central Stake Center, 640 So. 750 East, Bountiful. TO PREPARE for this evening, the students have been practicing two scripture skills, scripture chase and scripture study in their classes. Scripture chase refers to finding the scripture reference and helps answer a particular gospel question in a designated period of time. THERE ARE forty scripture scrip-ture references the students' have learned well enough to be able to "chase" them in less than 15 seconds. Scripture study refers to being able to answer any question taken from over 300, questions about the scripture content in a designated period of time. TO RECEIVE an invitation to this district competition, each of the students have already been successful in achieving a certain level of performance on the seminary level. The . enthusiasm and interest will be at a fever pitch when these anxious students display their scripture scrip-ture "know-how." The public is invited to enjoy this evening even-ing of exciting action." |
