Show ewer Gosti By DONETA GATHERUM Jim Sandburg, the East Layton city engineer, presented a lengthy, detailed cost analysis for a complete survey and engineering study of proposed storm sewers in East Layton at the East Lay-ton Lay-ton city council meeting held Tuesday, April 3. AFTER the council members discussed the storm sewer needs. Councilman Hohman suggested a letter be sent to the Davis County Commissioners requesting the county to allocate funds to help build a portion of the storm sewer trunk line along Rainbow Drive. The letter was to point out clearly that this storm sewer line would handle Wasatch Front run-off water (water from the forested foothills, run-off from the state highway, high-way, county water, Layton city water and East Layton water). The city also asked the county for specific details as to how to correctly apply for storm sewer funds. FINALLY, the letter requested the county to state any areas of disagreement between East Layton's position posi-tion and philosophy on the storm sewer and that of the county. It was pointed out that residents of East Layton pay a two mill tax levy for storm sewers but none of this revenue has ever been used to lay or to maintain a storm sewer within the boundaries of East Layton. COUNCIL members noted that all run-off water from the east does not originate in East Layton. Run-off should be correctly labeled "Wasatch Front" run-off and not East Layton water. The city engineer presented cost figures for the city's portion of the installation of storm sewer drains around the new LDS Stake Center that will soon be constructed. East Layton will pay more than $26,000 for this drainage project.
