Show BOYS FAIL TO FIND PEANUTS AS HIDDEN Cliurch Lads Follow Paper Trail Into City Creek Canyon, but Miss the Booty. A peanut hunt usually ends in the finding of tho peanuts up a tree, a general gen-eral throwing of stones at the nuts and a .big scramble when the peanuts fall to the ground. However, this was not the case in the hunt which a number of boys from the affiliated churches of tho city took part in yesterday afternoon after-noon up City Creek canyon. The lads started out from the offices of tho Y. M. C. A. at 2:30 with Homer L. Hoisington, secretary of the association, associa-tion, in charge. Paul Giberson set out in the morning and marked a trail witb sheets of paper, which he started at First avenue and State streets. On the paper was written the direction which was to lead to the peanuts. These were placed at frequent intervals. After following a course, which the directions on the paper directed, the boys arrived at a sheet a half mile below tho first natural bridge, which stated that the peanuts were within a radius of three blocks from the. point. The boys immediately im-mediately started out in all directions after the nuts, but all Bearch was without with-out avail. It was even decided to give the finder a few extra peanuts, but this also had no result, and the lads at last gave up. Whether they were stolen has not as yet been discovered, as Giber-son Giber-son did 'not go up with the group, but came home. Todav he will be sent to bring home what remain of the nuts and a hunt, which all hope to -be more successful, will be staged at Liberty park at 7 in the evening. |
