' - General k'alc- ,d.ne aio;i t r.e brtiir.s of the b'.ok.iod con- tinued yesterday. Little ground was gained on either side. The Russians have apparently slowed down their sweep toward Kovel in order that heavy artillery may lie brought up along the river. Linsingen's plan is evidently evi-dently to fight to the last on the river hank, using all his available reserves before be-fore falling back to the fortifications in front of Kovel. Raids across the river were made hy both sides. The Russians made an attempt at-tempt to establish themselves on the west bank near Janowka, but failed. The Germans say they have taken in the last few days along the Stokhod a number of officers, 1$32 men and twelve machine guns. |
