Show TURKS DECLARE RUSSIAN TROOPS WERE DEFEATED CONSTANTINOPLE, July 12, via London, Lon-don, 2:28 p. m. The Russians have attempted at-tempted to check the Turkish troops in the Caucasus by means of counter-attacks, but the war office announced to-dav to-dav that these onslaughts bad been beaten off. In Mesopotamia a small body of British troops was put to flight. The announcement follows: Irak front: The situation Is unchanged. un-changed. In the sector of Folahie a Turkish reconnoitering party surprised sur-prised a reconnoitering party of tho enemy on tbe right bank of the Tigris. The enemy fled, abandoning horses. Caucasus front: Southward of the Tchoruk on the day before yesterday hostile counter-attacks on the whole sector were repulsed. Forces of the enemv which succeeded in penetrating our lines were driven off by counterattacks. |
