VH 1 A Logan native, Checketts has resided in Farmington for more than 18 years. He has held a Utah Realtors License for 17 years and has been full-time realtor since March 1987. A 1967 graduate of Utah State University with a bachelor of science degree in journalism, Checketts was editor of the school paper his senior year at USU. From 1967-1987 he pursued a career in journalism and public relations. He was sports editor of the Logan Herald Journal, sports information director at the University of Northern Colorado, a sports writer for the Deseret News and an assistant staff manager in public relations for US West. At Deseret News, Checketts was twice a finalist for Sports Writer of the Year in Utah. At US West, he served as president of the Intermoun-tain Intermoun-tain Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators Com-municators in 1983. "I enjoy the service aspects, challenges and financial opportunities in real estate," Checketts said. "I plan on staying in this profession permanently.
