Show Brave runner sets new 1 ,600 mark POCATELLO, Idaho Bountiful High harrier Brandon Wilding continued to distinguish an already outstanding running career, racing to a new indoor record in the 1,600 meters at the 13th annual Simplot Games track and field meet held at Idaho State University. Univer-sity. Wilding's 4 minute, 20.54 second race slipped past the old record of 4:20.58 set by Jim McCreery of Gillete, Wyo. in the 1990 games. The Simplot Games are one of the largest indoor meets in the country featuring over 1,700 athletes Representing the Bountiful Track Club, Wilding s record-breaking run was just one of over five records broken in Saturday's competition. n Wilding is no stranger to success. The Bountirul runner raced to a 3A state championship last fall in the state cross country meet. Roy's BiUy Schuffenhaur was the only other area youth to claim first place honors in the Simplot Games Saturday. Representing the Roy Coca-Cola Track Club Schuffenhaur won the long jump, sailing 22 feet, inches. |
