Show Lady Vikes, Braves aim for state berths However, in their last outing, the Lady Darts did manage to give Weber a good game. Anything is possible. possi-ble. BOUNTIFUL BRAVES If the Lady Braves play their cards right, they'll be back in the state tournament, a goal that has inspired them all season. Jordan and Judge stand in Bountiful's way. Though losses around the league may make it possible tor me Braves to enter the tournament with a loss this week, winning gives Bountiful control of its own destiny (not to mention a better seed in the tourney.) The Braves will host Jordan tonight at 4 p.m. and travel to Judge Thursday at 4. WOODS CROSS WILDCATS Losing to Bountiful Friday may have ehrninated the 'Cats from the tournament, but you can bet Woods Cross will be at it until the end regardless. The Wildcats will spend the week on the road. By beating Murray tonight and Jordan Thursday, the 'Cats may just earn themselves a fourth place spot. Both games are slated for 4 p.m. By G.BRETT HART Sports Editor BOUNTIFUL For the Lady Braves of Bountiful High and their cross-town rivals, the Woods Cross Wildcats, this week marks the end of region girls basketball competition. Three games remain for 4A, Region 1 competitors Davis and Viewmont, as both finish region competition on Feb. 26. Here's a look at this week's competition featuring must-win situations for everyone if state playoff hopes are to be kept alive. VIEWMONT VIKINGS The Lady Vikings stand squarely in second place among their Region 1 rivals. Viewmont will face Davis on the road tonight at 4 p.m. and travel to Clearfield on Friday. Though Davis must upset the Vikes to keep their faint playoff hopes alive, the odds stand heavily in favor of the more experienced Viewmont team. If the Vikes can free center Jen Jones up as they did Friday in their 20-point romp of Layton, Davis could be in serious trouble. Not only will the Darts need to stop Jones, they will need to shut down the Vikings' perimeter attack fuelled by Heather Le Mmon and company-no easy task to say the least. Friday, the Lady Vikes have a shot at savoring the sweet taste of revenge. Undefeated at the first of the season, Clearfield handed Viewmont its first region loss of the year. Friday, the Viewmont team will have a shot at revenge and should have little trouble enjoying it. DAVIS DARTS As mentioned, the Lady Darts will have their hands full with Viewmont; however, inspired play on the Davis' part may give them a shot. Friday's matchup pits the Darts against league-leading league-leading Weber and, with all due respect, if it will take inspiration to beat Viewmont, it will take a miracle to upset the Warriors. |
