Show . i. j County taxes below average By SCOTT SUMMERILL A report released by the Utah Foundation, a private tax research organization, showed Davis County cities to be below the state average in property tax charges. The report bases the amount of taxes charged on a $75,000 home, assessed for tax purposes at 60 percent per-cent of its real value. However, the rate of assessment changes depending depen-ding on the type of property. For example, farmland is assessed assess-ed on a different rate because of the greenbelt program, and property such as motor vehicles and machinery are assessed at 100 percent per-cent of their real value. According to the study, the statewide average property tax on a $75,000 home rose from $552 in 1981 to $726 in 1989, an increase of 31.5 percent over the eight year period. |
