Show Daines selected for award i i -r I 1 I Maria Matthews Daines has been selected to receive a National Science Foundation (NSF) graduate fellowship award. This award covers tuition and fees for three years and also includes a $38,700 cash stipend over the three-year period. Daines was one of 63 people nationwide to receive this award in the area of biochemistry, biophysics and molecular biology. She plans to attend the University of Washington to pursue a Ph.D. in microbiology. Her husband, Clark R. Daines, has been admitted to the University of Washington School of Medicine. Daines will graduate from Brigham Young University in August 1990 with a bachelor's degree in microbiology and chemistry. chem-istry. She has completed her degree MARIA MATTHEWS DAINES in three years with a cumulative 3.95 GPA. She was valedictorian of the 1987 class at Viewmont High School and was chosen the State Science Sterling Scholar. |
