Show Bagley pomoted to major general t - IV Brig. Gen. Donald M. Bagley, Jr., resident of Fruit Heights, and commanding general, 96th Army Reserve Command, Fort Douglas, was promoted to major general in a ceremony at the Red Lion Hotel at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 23. As commander of the 96th AR-COM, AR-COM, he oversees the training missions mis-sions of over 9,000 soldiers in seven Western states. As a reservist, he must juggle his military responsibilities respon-sibilities with those of his civilian job, a manufacturer's representative for 3-M Medical Products Division. The primary mission of the Reservists Re-servists within the 96th ARCOM is to be mobilization-ready with training, train-ing, in their military occupation, as well as mastering primary soldier skills. Bagley is employed as a manufacturer's representative for Minnesota Mining and Manufactur ing (3-M) Medical Products Division. Divi-sion. He was born in Portland, Ore. and attended high school in Salt Lake City. He graduated cum laude from Weber State College with a bachelor of science degree in sociology. Bagley began his military career in the United States Navy June 1955. He later served in the U.S. Navy Reserve and the Utah Army National Guard as an enlisted soldier. He attended the Infantry Officer Candidate School in 1963 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. He served with the Utah Army National Guard ' s 1 9th Special Forces Group as a platoon leader, A -Team executive officer and A-Team A-Team commander prior to transferring transferr-ing to the U.S. Army reserve in 1968. He has since held various com mand and staff positions within units of the 96th U.S. Army Reserve Re-serve Command and was appointed chief of staff in June 1984. He was named deputy commander in Feb. 1985 and promoted to brigadier general in March 1986. He became commander of the 96th U.S. Army Reserve Command April 10, 1989. Among his decorations are the Meritorious Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal (U.S. Navy), Army Commendation Com-mendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Antarctic Service Medal with Wintering Over Clasp, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Component Com-ponent Achievement Medal with 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, Parachute Badge (U.S. Navy) and the Master Parachute Badge.
