Show Burningham registers cation in the state of Utah. The Mountain Plains Library Association recognized Burning-ham Burning-ham for his significant contribution to libraries. In an article published in 'Utah HoLiday" in May 1989 Burningham was singled out as one of 10 Utah State legislators "adding the most to the process.' The same article included Burningham in a group of seven legislators "who can regularly regular-ly be counted on to put state needs ahead of personal political interests. inter-ests. ' Burningham is a retired public school teacher, having taught speech, drama and debate at Bountiful Boun-tiful High School for 27 years. He is currently employed by Shipley Associates, As-sociates, Bountiful, doing consulting con-sulting with various business, industry in-dustry and government agencies across the nation. Additionally, Burningham, free lance-writer, has authored a number of plays, films and articles. Many of these are used by the LDS Church. He wrote Bountiful s bicentennial pageant, "We The People," and chaired a writing committee that wrote the LDS Church's pageant celebrating the 150th anniversary of the church, ' 'Zion. ' Rep. Burningham and his wife Susan have two sons, Christian and Tyler, and live at 932 Canyon Crest Drive in Bountiful. I Kim R. Burningham has served as a member of the House of Representatives Rep-resentatives since 1979. Burningham currently serves in a variety of leadership positions in the Legislature. He is co-chairman of the Community and Economic Development Appropriations Committee, co-chairman of the Economic Development Interim Committee and chairman of the Legislative Committee on Strategic Planning. He also serves as a member of the Suggested State Legislation Committee for the National Council of State Legislatures. Rep. Burningham has sponsored a number of significant pieces of legislation while serving in the Legislature. Included are bills dealing deal-ing with economic development, delinquent student loan collection, juvenile drug and alcohol abuse, library support, earthquake mitigation, mitiga-tion, among many. During the past legislative session ses-sion he successfully sponsored bills providing for an arts endowment, a KIM BURNINGHAM permanent strategic planning committee com-mittee and plans for the diversification diversifica-tion of the Utah economic base. Burningham has been an advocate ad-vocate for education, school district consolidation, more fair reapportionment reappor-tionment processes and open meetings in the State Legislature.
