Show Sunday beer sales nixed Tremonton Police Chief S. Warren Hodges approached the Tremonton City Council at their meeting on March 6 with suggestions sugges-tions for changing their restrictions on Sunday beer sales and eliminating elim-inating the retail certification on beer sales requirements. Members of the city council nixed the idea of allowing beer to be sold on Sunday. Tremonton has had a beer license ordinance that has required anyone who sold beer to have certification. The ordinance required even grocery store checkers to be certified. Hodges pointed out that one of the problems with the ordinance is the turnover in convenience store employees. Hodges suggested that the ordinance requiring retail certification be eliminated He said merchants could be given a copy of the beer ordinance and it would be up to them to get the information to their employees. Council members will send Hodges' proposed changes to the attorney at-torney for review and to possibly draft a new ordinance. The Leader |
