Show t laycees Promote Election of Two Candidates The Cedar City Junior Chamber of Commerce pulled off one of the most unique maneuvers in the history of the Utah Jaycees this past week end as they were successful in electing a National Director and a State Vice President Presi-dent at the state's annual convention, con-vention, held at Provo. It is the first time in the history his-tory of the Utah Jaycees that fo candidates have been nominated from one club and it is likewise the first time that two candidates : from one club have been elected. Named as a national director I w as R. L. Gardner, Cedar City .Lawyer and an immediate past president of the Cedar City Club. Bud Bowman, Cedar City club president, was named as a state vice president. Two of 10 Officer It was pointed out by Bowman, that 10 offices were filled at the convention from the 47 clubs in the state with Cedar City naming two of those officers from within their ranks. Additional honors were also heaped on the Cedar City club and Bowman and Gardner. Bowman was named as the most outstanding club president of the state in Division One, which represents clubs in communities com-munities under 15,000. The plaque was presented by state president William E. Dunn. Gardner was the recipient of a similar honor when he was ' named the outstanding state director di-rector for the past year in Division Divi-sion One, receiving a plaque from past president Glen Swalberg. la addition the Cedar City club was awarded the State Travel Trophy for the past year. The trophy is given in recognition of the most man miles traveled I to attend monthly Travel Trophies Tro-phies meetings throughout the year. This award is not based on club size, it was stated. Second place award for outstanding out-standing accomplishment in the neia oi imer-ciuD relations nd Extension, was also won by Cedar Ce-dar City and they also brought home a second place certificate for outstanding accomplishment in the field of Religious and Christmas Activities. 19 Jaycees Attend A delegation of 19 Cedar City Jaycees and 18 wives attended the state confab and worked closely and diligently together to bring about the Wtinn nf Gardner and Bowman. The accomplishment ac-complishment of electing the two men was credited to the close support of the club members. Making the trip were Mr. and Mrs. Bowman, Mr. and Mrs. Gardner, Gard-ner, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Montgomery, Montgom-ery, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Lunt, Mrs. and Mrs. Mike Waters, Mr and Mrs. Jim Sandberg, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Knight, Mr. and Mrs. Byron AnuTson, Mr. and Mrs. Jens Jensen, iIr.
