Show PHS Students Present Outstanding Musical Program The people of this area were treated to one of the most outstanding out-standing musical programs In the school history last Friday evening eve-ning in the high school gymnasium. gymnas-ium. The program was presented present-ed by the P. H. S. music department depart-ment .trader the direction of 1 A'. Asay, with the cooperation of other members Of the faculty. Featured was the 45-voice girls' chorus from the school which was one of two receiving superior super-ior ratings at thr Region Ten music festival ia .Fillmore two weeks ago, and thr high schwul band whirb rated in the number two spot in the festival. Also .on the program were several dancses, directed by Mrs. Lorna Rue Pymm, Lowell Caldwell Cald-well and a military drill by Mrs. Jean Uendrickson's Seventh graders. gra-ders. Mrs. Mary Lyman was at the piano during the evening. The maneuvers by the band as a climax to the evening performance perform-ance (was .outstanding, with the 54-pieee organization performing Intricate maneuvers under the direction of Douglas Rogerson, drum major, interspersed by twirling .exhibitions by Connie Alder. Betty Jo Bess and -Kathy JVielson. In commenting on this Affair we would J ike to add that this is the fourth major presentation of the P.11.S. music department during the school year, in which a majority of the students jo lhe six grades of the school have taken part These performances have been directed by Mr. Asay, with able heJp by the above listed list-ed members of the faculty and others. Included in the programs for the year were the senior high school operetta, the Junior high school operetta. The Christmas Festival and the spring Concert of last week, In which almost 150 students took part, which was a similar number to Christmas Christ-mas concert. |
