Show National League Phillies To Stage Clinic Preparations have been completed com-pleted for the two-day clinic and tryouts to be staged Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27 in Cedar City by the Philadelphia Phillies, of the National League. The tryout camp will b under the direction of Paul Ow..ris, who was a successful manager in the Philadelphia Organization's farm system before becoming a scout. The clinic and tryouts have been designed to assist youngsters young-sters In the many Little and Pony Po-ny league programs of the area as well as to give an opportunity opportuni-ty to older boys to tryout for professional baseball. The program will open at 9 a. m. and close at 4 p. m. each day. Players are advised to bring their own shoes, gloves and uniforms. uni-forms. Members of the American Legion teams are required to bring the written consent of their post commanders or team managers mana-gers in order to take part in the program. At the conclusion of the May 27 session, players who display major league potential will be offered the opportunity to sign with the Philadelphia Organization Organiza-tion providing, of course, that they are eligible to participate in professional baseball. Friday forenoon, a clinical demonstration de-monstration will be presented by Mr.' Owens and the camp personnel per-sonnel and during the afternoon, two Little League teams will par-ticipate par-ticipate in a. regular game with comments from the camp staff. At 6 p. m. evening, a series of films will be shown on the various positions in baseball, and at 8 p. m., a special session for managers and coaches will be conducted that should be of interest in-terest to men working in the program pro-gram from throughout the entire southern Utah area.
