ISAACSON A full week of commnnrpmcnt activities have boon slated at College of Southern Utah, climaxed climax-ed Thursday, June 1 with the 64th annual graduation rites, according ac-cording to Prof. Harry Plummer, Dean of Instruction. Two-year Two-year Associate in Science degrees wil be awarded 153 lower division divi-sion students. First activities of the Commencement Commen-cement Week program will take place on Sunday, May 28 in the college auditorium. Honors and Awards Convocation will be held at 4 p. m. and Baccalaureate exercises ex-ercises at 8:15 p. m. Bishop morpe a. Isaacson, member of the Presiding Bishopric, Latter-day Latter-day Saints Church, will be the speaker. According to Paul Dahl, director direc-tor of the LDS Institute, 89 students stu-dents will recieve graduation certificates cer-tificates or special achievement certificates. I Graduating on the lower division, divi-sion, two years of study, will be 68 students with 15 students graduating from the four year program. In addition six students will receive special achievement awards. Representing the students at the services will be Arlen D. Grimshaw of Enoch and President Presi-dent Frank D. Day and President A. E. Whatcott of the two Cedar City Stakes, will present the graduates and award the diplomas, di-plomas, respectively. Invocation will bo by Donald R. Rasmussen and the benediction benedic-tion will bo pronounced by Mari lyn Brian with Dr. Roy den C. Braithwaite. director of CSU, introducing in-troducing Bishop Isaacson. String ensemble under the direction di-rection of Roy L. Halverjen will perform the "Adagio Canlabilo," by Beethoven and the CSU Ladies Chorus will sing "Ve Praise Thee O God," under the direction of Dr. Blaine Johnson with Christine Chris-tine Winterrose as soloist and Annette Seaman as accompanist. Following the commencement cxcerci.ses, an open house will bo staged at the Institute, Director Direc-tor Dahl stated. Eleventh Annual Reunion of the Fifty Year Club will begin at 10 a. m. In the Library Lounge on Wednesday, May 31 and the class reunions will be held in the same place beginning at 2 p. m. Alumni banquet wil Ibe Held that evening at 7:30 p. m. in the El Escalante Hotel, followed by the Alumni Ball. Commencement rites will begin be-gin In the auditorium at 8 p. m. and commencement speaker will be Dr. Lorin Wheelwright, Salt Lake City, chairman of the Utah Coordinating Council on Higher Education. |
