Show SIXTEEN CONVICTED i BY ARMY COURT MAVENCE, Thursday, Dec. H7. The ' trial of seventeen persons, army officers and civilians, in connection with the saU-to saU-to Germans of goods from the American war clocks purchased by the government, j ended yesterday with the conviction of all but one of the prisoners. The accuse 1 included a captain, a first lieutenant, three second lieutenants, a gunner, two Germans who fled rather than face tri.tl ( and nine civilians, one of them an Anvri- ; can named Lepmann. The court marital hearing the case found all of the a'C.:sv ! guilty with the exception of one second! lieutenant, who was acquitted. Lepmann was sentenced to two years' Imprisonment and was finel 6000 francs. The officers, who in civil life were com-mercial com-mercial men, had each won distlnrt'on during the war, showing, as the presidin-: j officer of the court martial said, "mire i braverv than probity." They were con-j con-j demned to various terms of imprisonment, ranging from two years to five months. |
