Back row, Dawnika Fillmore. Lisa Turner. Stacey Bringhurst and Jennifer Singley. THE PERK-ETTE'S get iheir training under the direction direc-tion of Stephanie Sleed. Glen-na Glen-na Frey. and Peggy Leinbach. Each girl receives training in jazz, ballet, marching, splits, kicks and show manship. They practice tw ice a week for one hour a day to develop their dancing and marching skills. The Perk-eile Jr. Drill team from the Dance Factory in Bountiful, brought back many aw ards from the founh annual junior drill competition held March 20 at Layton High School. The competition involved in-volved 16 junior drill teams from throughout the stale. THE TEAMS were judged according to age categories. The Pee-Wee"s. those girls aged 3-4. took fourth place in their division. The Petite's. girls aged 5-6, von a second place. The Mini A team, ages 7-8, received third place and he Mini B team, aged 9-10, I took second in their category. The junior Perk-ette's, girls aged 11-12, brought home a third place trophy, while the senior Perk-ette's. girls 13 and up, carried off second place! There was also a "drill down" competion held at the conclusion of the team competition. com-petition. "Drill down" is where a series of commands are given to the girls increasing in difficulty until only one girl remains on the floor. Bringing home awards in this competion were Maria Robinson receiving receiv-ing a first place; Lisa Turner a third place, and Lynn Beanie a first place. |
