COOPER fls the periodic undercover checks of Safety Inspection Station proving to be a useful tool in Undercover performance investigations conducted by the Utah Highway Patrol during dur-ing 1981, indicated a marked improvement in the quality of safety inspection station checks in the state over the previous year, a news release says. THE UTAH Highway Patrol makes random undercover checks of the state's vehicle inspection stations each year to insure standards for safe vehicle inspection are being met. Officers in the Safety Inspection In-spection Division, while out of uniform, drive unmarked vehicles vehi-cles into the stations and ask for safety inspections. The officer then observes the inspection in-spection process and notes any deficiencies. Depending on the seriousness serious-ness of a violation, stations may receive warnings, suspensions, suspen-sions, or outright cancellation of their inspection licenses.
