Show Sr. Cits Honor Volunteer Workers The Volunteer Recognition banquet for all those who devoted de-voted many hours of service for others at the senior citizen centers throughout Davis County was held April 1. THERE WERE 142 people attending the event with those giving more than 30 hours of volunteer service to the centers. cen-ters. The banquet was held at the Heidelberg Restaurant in Farmington. There were 406 volunteers with a total of 23,809 hours given during 1981. One of those present had 800 hours of service; four person gave 700 hours or more; eight persons gave over 400 hours and 30 volunteers had more than 30 hours of service. Ted M. Peterson, chairman of the board of dirctors of the Council Coun-cil On Aging, welcomed guests and introduced special guests. ALICE J. JOHNSON, Council On Aging director, introduced in-troduced Ernest Eberhard, Jr., chairman of the Davis County Commission. Mr. Eberhard gave a special tribute to all volunteers. Following dinner there was a musical program, a male quartette (The Lost Chord) from Ogden who presented a musical vocal program and "Mr. April" had a comedy routine. Mr. Peterson presented pre-sented special awards and Donna Swenson presented letters let-ters to former board members. Special certificates were then presented to all volunteers giving giv-ing more than 30 hours during the year. THE TOTAL dollar value of volunteers had, at a minimum wage, totaled $79,760 but of course these volunteers do not receive any enumeration. Serving others seems to be all the wages they might earn. One volunteer at the Golden Years Center has said, "I want to volunteer with a desire to help people, it benefits me as well as doing some good for others."
