Show Bountiful's Character BOUNTIFUL How do you determine the "character" of a city like Bountiful? THIS QUESTION was posed at a recent meeting of the Bountiful Redevelopment Rede-velopment Agency. Mayor Dean S. Stahle, who is also chairman of the RDA board of directors, said he was having difficulty determining the character of the city. "No one wants to change the character of Bountiful," he said. "But I'm not sure I know what the city's character really is. We have mostly one-story one-story buildings, many trees and even some sidewalks with cracks in them. Other than this, I don't know the character." SEVERAL minutes passed and Mayor Stahle continued to conduct the RDA meeting in his usual humorous sometimes comedy-like character. Rulon Bright then took the floor and said he wanted to make only one observation about the RDA meeting. "I CAN'T understand why no one can define the character of Bountiful," he said. "It's so obvious. Bountiful's character is Mayor Stahle." Mr. Bright then explained his comment as being a compliment, not a put-down of the mayor. "I think the mayor is a fine character of our city," he said. |
