Woods Cross was able to complete enough innings in their game with Davis to take the lead in region action as the Cats, downed the Darts 2-1. BOUNTIFUL was scheduled to take on Highland but the Rams never made the trip out. "They have a budget for travel that they have to stick to and they felt the snow would ruin the game so it would be a wasted trip. As it turned out they were right," noted Bountiful Coach Phil Osen. East did make it to Viewmont and the two clubs actually were able to play four innings. At that time the score was tied 3-3 so the rules state the game will start over. Doug Lee was the big bat for the Vikes as he drove in two runs with a towering double to center. CURTIS CARMAN, the junior lefty , was the big story for the Woods Cross club. Not only did he limit the Davis bats to just two hits, but he also drove in what turned out to be the winning run. Chris Mackev. of the Darts, took the loss. He shouldn't hang his head over this effort though, as he only gave up four hits while striking out four. Davis couldn't capitalize in the top half of the first . Mike Snarr started things off, right away, as the lead off hitter drew a walk from Carman. Rick Secrist then reached first on an error bringing up Mack- ey. Chris hit the ball hard, but right at the pitcher, who threw to third base to nail Snarr for one out. The Davis squad then tried a delayed steal but Carman showed great presence of mind as he stepped off the rubber and easily threw out Secrist going to third. Catcher Ben Home then flew out to left. WOODS CROSS managed to take a one run lead in the bottom half of the first. After Troy Cullimore grounded out, senior Blair Kent stroked a single. Coach Cullimore then put on the hit and run, which looked like a great play, but the ball hit Kent who was running to second, this meant Kent was out. Doyle Hauter reached first on an error sending Dyson to second. Red Hot Mike Egan then stroked a single to rightfield driving in Dyson. THE DARTS got the run back in the second with David Johnson driving in James VanDeigh. both were singles. The Wildcats came right back to score, which turned out to be the winning run. in their half of the second. Dave Italisano drew a walk with two outs and then promptly promp-tly stole second.
