Show Chsimheir UirgeB 1 k ins the By HAVEN BURNINGHAM The Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce urges all citizens to become involved in the political process pro-cess to maintain our democratic form of government. IT IS an appropriate time for all residents of our communities to become involved to assure strong leadership in government. In this election year, it is important that the best qualified people step forward and accept their responsibility to run for elective offices. Our political party system is unique and has been the means whereby our nation has achieved great -' ' ness. Regardless of. one political party affiliation, whether Independent, Republican or Democrat, each citizen has a responsibility to participate. Failure Fai-lure to do so may thi eaten our political rights. IN PAST elections the turnout has shown an apathy among our citizens that is frightening. The small voter turn-out for bond elections, school board elections and most recently, the referendum PrPs vote on the paramedics, showed a lack of concern on "ma the part of the vast majority of our citizenry. F v Pro THE DAVIS County clerk is now accepting appli- Ptl2 cations for two state senators, eight for the House of Cltl' Representatives and county elective offices for 1982 Pravi(! include: one two-year commissioner, one four-year commissioner, clerk, auditor, treasurer,, assessor, recorder, attorney, sheriff, surveyor and constable! The county chairman of each political party can provide assistance and information for those interested in-terested in running for the above elective offices. THE BOUNTIFUL Area Chamber of Commerce can not emphasize too strongly the need for citizens to accept their responsibility. |
