Show Iliwanians Hear District Leader, Induct 2 filembers In an attempt to add new blood and additional enthusiasm to the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club, a special effort has been expended the past two weeks to get their club completely com-pletely organized by the beginning of the new year. Working with local officers was Darwin Smith, International field representative, who spent three days in Roosevelt. Effective November 1, the Roosevelt Roos-evelt club voted to change its meeting time from Wednesday to Thursday of each week. Last I Thursday Dr. Wayne Marrs, Vernal, Ver-nal, governor-elect of the Utah-Idaho Utah-Idaho district, was the principal speaker at a meeting that had several sev-eral potential new members in attendance. at-tendance. He told the story of Kiwanis and why every up-and-coming community needed a good, active ac-tive service club. Other district and international leaders who had planned to be in attendance were forced to miss the meeting because of bad roads and heavy storms between be-tween here and Salt Lake City. The meeting was presided over by John Wogec, president, with Cliff Memmott acting as toastmas-ter. toastmas-ter. Floyd Peterson, past president, reviewed the five and one-half years of Kiwanis in Roosevelt, and the Burdick family of Duchesne, entertained with several musical numbers. |
