Show Ethel Beebe 4-H Girls Club Hold Area Fair The Altonah 4-H Club held a community fair and fashion show Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the ward hall under the direction dir-ection of the leaders Mrs. Nada Murray and Mrs. Gean Lambert. Miss Mable Merrell, home demonstration demon-stration agent of Duchesne was guest speaker and judge. Several mothers were present. A program was presented by the 4-H girls. The girls modeled the articles of clothing they had made during the summer and Norita Bowden was master of ceremonies. Cake and punch were served to a large number of girls and their mothers. Mr. and Mrs. Ames Barnes and son Edward of Evanston, Wyoming were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olsen. Mr- and Mrs. Bud Johnson and daughter of Lehi were weekend guests of Mrs. Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ralphs. Mrs. Ralphs returned to Salt Lake with them for a medical checkup, returning home Aug. 15. Mr- and Mrs. Kenneth Catcott and family of China Lake, Calif, arrived Aug. 12 to spend a few days with Mrs. Catcot's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith. Mr and Mrs. Bennie Mitchell, who are employed in Salt Lake were in Altonah Aug. 12 looking after their place. Judy' Jessen of Salt Lake is here visiting her father, Dewey Jessen, for 2 weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Young and daughters Joan and Betty and Thressa Anderson of Powder Wash, Colo, were Tuesday night guests of their father Milt Anderson. Ander-son. Mrs. Millie Mecham of Pittsburg, i Calif, and Lorraine and Russel Case of Salt Lake visited Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bowden Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowden and Louie Bowden Bow-den during the week. Mrs. Oliver Bowden returned to Calif, with her daughter, Mrs Mecham for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Monsen and family motored to Salt Lake to visit relatives Aug. 11. Mary Lue Lott of Roosevelt and a friend from Kamas were overnight over-night guests Aug. 15 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowden. ATTEND CONVENTION Relief Society officers, Margaret Maxfleld, Lucy Jacobson, Margaret Reay and Ethel Beebe attended the Duchesne and Moon Lake stake convention at Duchesne Aug 16. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olsen and son Eddie spent Aug. 14 in Price. Wayne Olsen returned home with them after spending two weeks irt Altonah. Willard Bowden who is in the Air Force, left Thursday, Aug. 16 for his new base at Yuma Ariz, after spending two weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowden.. His sister Norita accompanied ac-companied him as far as Salt Lake where she will visit for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Snyder and baby Cuba Case, Rhea and Dennis Den-nis Marshall of Salt Lake visited at the Oliver Bowden home during the week. Harold Ralphs and sons Billy and Keith of Orem were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. at the Clarence Jones' during the week were Clarence's brother, Doug, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Jones and family, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Cowan and family of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Pearl Swain of Salt Lake and Mr- and Mrs. Wilbern Swain of Provo called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weeks Sunday afternoon. , Hershel Taylor is home from the Army on furlough visiting his parents, Mir. and Mrs. Claude Taylor of Altamont. HELD UNION MEETING Moon Lake Stake MIA held Learership at Mt. Emmons Wed. nght with Altonah ward furnishing furnish-ing the refreshments. Those attending attend-ing from Altonah were Mrs. Arda Ames, Mrs- LaRue Fisher, Mrs. Margaret Maxfield, Mrs. Mable Maxfield, Coralie Mixfield, Mrs. Ilez Ames and Bonnie Ann Ames. The Altonah ward Relief Society held their work day meeting Tues. afternoon, Aug. 14 in the ward hall. They made a quilt. WIN BALL GAME Th Altonah girls softball team played Talmage Aug. 15 at the Altamont Rodeo grounds. The score was 29 to 15 in favor of Altonah. |
