His first call . as bishop of the Neola ward was in 1929, after having been a counselor for four (Continued on Back Page) k FORMER NEOLA BISHOP (Continued from page one) years. 'He was released in 1937, and was recalled in 1946 for a second term. He remained as bishop until 1949. Following his release from the bishopric Mr. Jensen was called to the Roosevelt stake high council where he served' several years. In the past few years he has functioned for two years as an Indian Missionary, and as a member of the High Priests quorum presidency over five years. While in the Uintah Basin Indian mission Mr. Jensen was a member of the' presidency and served as district president. Was On School Board For fourteen years Mr. Jensen was a member of the Duchesne county school board, and is a retired store operator and livestock live-stock producer. He retired from the store in 1946 after 23 years as manager. Service to the church began for Mrs. Jensen at least two years before ,her marriage thirty-five years ago. For 37 years she has been a Sunday school teacher;. 35 years in the Relief Society and MIA, serving in ward presidencies and on stake boards. She was a stake Relief Society board member 16 years and was first counselor to two presidents. She also served two years in the Indian mission. Mrs. Jensen was president for two, 2-year terms, over the Duchesne Du-chesne county Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Four Children The Jensen have three sons and a daughter, Mrs. Tal (Phyllis) Ward'le and Lee of Neola; Neill, Duchesne, and Ray who lives in Salt Lake City. The call for their mission which came from the first presidency, suggested the length of time they would serve would be from 1 y2 to V2 years ,and they would be assigned to the Hawaiian bureau of information on the grounds of the temple. Saturday, Sept. 1, has been set as the day for the dinner and program which will be held at the Neola ward chapel. They enter the mission home on Sept. 5 and will sail, from San Francisco on the SS Lurline on Sept. 12. It is anticipated Elder and Mrs, Jensen will work very closely with President and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman, who were called to the Islands as temple president early this year. |
