Show . : : Seed Growers, Bee Keepers Get Call To Meeting A special meeting is being called for Wednesday, August 29, for all alfalfa seed growers and honey producers of Duchesne and Uintah counties to study the 'Economic Poison Application Act of 1951.' According to Hale Holgate, district dis-trict agricultural inspector, Utah State Dept. of Agricultural, a request re-quest has come from the honey producers in the Basin to curtail present random spraying. They claim that tmany of their bees have died as a result of poison from sprayed alfalfa and other plants they feed upon. In the event the two counties vote to regulate spraying, it will be necessary to hire trained and licensed men to do the spraying. The state department of agriculture agricult-ure will control the program. Mr. Holgate is that .man in the Basin. In 1951 Millard county ran into a lot of trouble with farmers and other residents when they sprayed communities as well as farms. Law suits resulted when losses- from the poison ran into considerable money. The meeting next Wednesday will be held at the Myton American Ameri-can Legion hall at Myton, which formerly was known as the Oasis. Time of the meeting has been set . for 2 p.m. Elsewhere in this newspaper will be found a legal announcement of the meeting as announced by Mr. Holgate. |
