County Fair Commiee Bids i Visitors To Oalcenced Progrosii More Entries For Exhibits Are Being Sought Plans and arrangements for the Duchesne County Fair which will be held Aug. 30, 31 and Sept 1 in Duchesne were completed at a Fair Board' meeting Monday, Aug. 20, according to Weston Bates, chairman. chair-man. An outstanding program has been arranged for visitors as well as county residents, reports Mr. Bates and his co-chairman, Max Hartman. A special plea is being made for county people to enter more field crops, garden produce, fruits and flowers in the 1956 fair. Premium books are ready for distribution and in them can be found all the desired information concerning exhibits, time and place's where they can be viewed and left with corimittees. Additional Addition-al information can be obtained from the Extension Service office, Robert Murdock and Lloyd Smith, agricultrual agents and Mary Lois Reichert and Mabel Merrell, home remonstration agents. Another Wednesday Wednes-day event will be the judging of the Style Dress Revue at 10 a.m. at the Duchesne Stake House. Final judging for "Miss Duchesne Du-chesne County" wiirbe the kick-off kick-off event again this year, and will be held in the Duchesne Stake House Thursday. Aue. 30 at 8 r.m. Admission prices will be 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. chil-dren. Night Rodeos Two qight rodeos on Friday and Saturday will provide the entertainment enter-tainment features for the fair. Chairmen of this activity is A. Hale Holgate. Special attractions will be the appearance of a guest artist each night. Fred Ketch, professional pro-fessional ventrilooquist and his cowboy dummy, Jerry Jerry, who were one of the entertainment features at the UBIC, will again entertain people of the Basin at the Friday night rodeo, Al Montan. a professional rope twirler and knot specialist will present two performances Saturday night. The fair parade, which promises to be another colorful feature will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Theme for tht parade is "Harvest Time," and all business establishments, organizations, clubs' and church organizations in Duchesne County are urged to participate. Floats will be judged on beauty, theme, originality, humor and novelty. Five prizes ranging from $20 to $5 will be given. Kiwanis Gives Calf Again this year, at the fair, the Roosevelt Kiwanis Club is present-,ing present-,ing a fine dairy heifer to a deserving deserv-ing young 4-Her. Any 4-H boy or girl wishing to win this calf must write a letter to County Agent, Bob Murdock, outlining what they will do with the calf if they win it. These letters must be submitted on or before August 25. A fish pond for kids is again being planned for all youngsters who are 12 years or younger. It will open Friday, August 31, at 9 a.m. Fish for the pond are sup-pliedby sup-pliedby the Utah Fish and Game Association. Auction On Friday The 4-H and FFA junior auction will, be neld Iriday at 4 p.m. Judging Judg-ing of hogs, crops, horticulture, sheep, beef and dairy cattle will also take place on Friday. Following the parade Saturday afternoon a horseshow, and kids sports will be held at the fair grounds. The sports will include horse racing and other games. Exhibits will be open for public inspection both Friday and Saturday Satur-day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. with the exception ' of the home economics econ-omics division which will close at 8 p.m. Friday and at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. People of Duchesne County should mark their calendars and plan to attend the fair on Aug. 30, 31 and Sept. 1, thus insuring the success of a fifie county project.
