A Leaving Friday for a 10-day trip are Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Hul-linger Hul-linger and daughter, Faye, and son, Gilbert, who will attend the LDS conference in Salt Lake City, prior to going to Pasadena, Calif., to attend a convention for the underwriters of the Northern Life Insurance Co. Pvt. Leonard Robinson, stationed sta-tioned at Fort Devens, Mass., left Monday after enjoying a few days of his furlough with his sister, Mrs. lone Tippets, and family, at Alterra, and with friends, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dillman. He will visit relatives in Salt Lake before returning to his base. Mr. and Mrs. Sam West, of Salt Lake City, spent the weekend week-end with Mrs. West's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Summarell. Students from Wasatch Academy Acad-emy home for spring vacation from last Thursday through Monday were: Nancy Marimon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marimon, of Whiterocks, and a houseguest, Robbin Hall, of Mesa Verde, Ariz.; Joan Griffin, Grif-fin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffin, also of White-rocks; White-rocks; Wayne Faulkner, son of Mr. and .Mrs. Faulkner; Hal Helphrey. son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Helphrey, Jimmy Sutteer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sutteer, and Joan Beecroft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ober- hansley, all of Fort Duchesne. Others enjoying the spring holiday were Yvonne Fretwell, daughter of Mrs. Irene Fretwell, Roosevelt, and her roommate, Jean Conway, of Las Vegas; Gary Mullins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Mullins, Roosevelt, and a guest, Melvin Rawles. of Idaho; Ida-ho; Dick and John Ruppel, sons of Wm. H. Ruppel, Jr., Roosevelt; Roose-velt; and Glen Bair, son of Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Bair, Roosevelt. Joyce is achieving great honors at Wasatch Wa-satch Academy for her ability as a pianist. Mr. and Mrs. George Bacon and son, Jack, who has been home on leave from the Navy, returned to Roosevelt Tuesday, after visiting eight days in Bur-ley, Bur-ley, Idaho, with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Bacon. They also enjoyed a visit with their daughters, Mrs. Jack Bess, of Murray, and Mrs. Don Whatcott, of Salt Lake. Jack left this week to return to his base at Moffett Field, Cal. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Nixon will leave Friday morning to attend the general LDS conference in Salt Lake City, after which they will go to San Francisco for a J. C. Penney convention. Mr. and Mrs. Les Mullins were Salt Lake visitors this week, after chauffering their son, Gary, and other Wasatch Academy students to Mt. Pleasant, Pleas-ant, following their spring va-: cation. Mr. and Mrs. John Roller, of Salt Lake City, spent a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roller, Neola. and in Roosevelt; They returned to Salt Lake Monday, where Mr. Roller will resume studies at the university. uni-versity. They were accompanied to Salt Lake by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Yack. Joan Hoover, of Salt Lake City, daughter of Mrs. Elsie Hoover, is spending her vacation vaca-tion at the Edward Yack home. Her mother will drive out for her next week-end. A wonderful vacation is reported re-ported by Mr. and Mrs. George Harrison, who returned Friday from California, where they have been visiting for the past month, spending most of the time in Long Beach with Mrs. Harrison's brother. Robert N. Wallis. They had gone down to meet Mrs. Jessie Robison, who had spent the past six months in Honolulu. She returned home with them. A houseguest at the R. V. Larson home is Dr. Larson's mother, Mrs. Rebekah Larson, of Smithfield, who arrived last Friday night to visit for a week. Mr. and Mrs. John Wogec will leave Monday for an extended ex-tended trip east. President and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman, of Denver, visited this week at tne larl Dillman home. 1 The former is president of the Western States LDS mission, and he and Mrs. Dillman were enroute to Salt Lake City to attend the general conference sessions. Bruce Fitzgerald, of the Fitzgerald Fitz-gerald Tractor Co., was a business busi-ness visitor in Salt Lake City, Tuesday. David Watkins, music instructor instruc-tor at Roosevelt high school, has been confined to his home this week due to illness. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Gale Tuesday was Mrs. Gale's brother. Bill Austin, of Helper. Mrs. Gale and son, John, accompanied him back to Helper. Mrs. J. O. Orser returned home Monday afternoon, after spending two weeks in San Diego Di-ego with her son, Lt. Com. L. S. Orser, and his family. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nelson are leaving Friday morning to at tend general LDS conference sessions in Salt Lake City. They plan to join the Ray E. Dillmans. Lawrell Jensen, principal at Roosevelt high school, left Wednesday Wed-nesday to attend a secondary principal's meeting at the state capitol. Sessions will continue throughout the week. Visiting at the Douglas Mc-Kinlay Mc-Kinlay home is Mr. McKinlay's father from Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spencer have received word that Mr. Spencer's brother, Doc Spencer, Spen-cer, a former Ioka resident, died .Sunday in Fairview. He was buried Wednesday at Fairview.. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Johnson John-son are the parents of a baby girl born March 23 at the Fort Duchesne hospital. James Hall, was in Salt Lake City on business during the week. Renee Labrum and a friend, Vefa Lunt, students at B.Y.U.. Provo, were week-end guests of ' Miss Labrum's parents, Mr. and " Mrs. Clair Labrum. They motored mo-tored to Vernal Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Garth Tietjen, nee Donna Rae Labrum, and to see their baby blessed and given the name Renee. Mr. and Mrs. Anthon B. Chris-tensen Chris-tensen and son, Doug, spent five days this week in Salt Lake City. Eva Sprouse and Virginia Burton motored to Salt Lake City over the week-end. |
