Show Postpones Action .... Feed Willi License Awaits-City Action At the last regular meeting of the Roosevelt city council, considerable time was consumed in discussing and studying an application made by the Uintah Basin Farmers Feed Mill Cooperative Co-operative Assn., for a license to operate their proposed $65,000 feed mill that is now under con- struction and will be housed in the building formerly owned by the J. G. Peppard, Seed Co. on south main street. , According to George Hacking, city recorder, the mayor and city council adjourned the meeting meet-ing without making a definite commitment one way or an other. It was apparent the city "dads" wanted a bit more in-1 formation before coining to a decision. The application will no doubt be reconsidered when the council meets April 9. Rumors had been' running rampant about the area since the March 26 meeting that the ' mayor and council had gone on record officially as denying the license. The officers and directors of the newly formed cooperative met after the rumor had come to them to map out their future activities. They expressed disappointment disap-pointment that the license had been held up, and were quick to ' offer .to meet with the council and establish themselves as a legitimate business that wanted a license to operate in the city of Roosevelt and in the Uintah Basin. According to Ray Brown, of Montwel, president of the feed mill co-op, the farmers who form the new organization will continue with their feed mill project, hopeful that . the city will act favorable on their application. ap-plication. "If they deny us a permit, then we will, of necessity, neces-sity, have to take the mill elsewhere else-where even though Roosevelt is the central part of the two counties, Uintah and Duchesne," Mr. Brown said. . |
