Show ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL Monday was clean-up day, and what a clean-up day it was! Most students worked very well. The building now shines, it is clean and polished on the inside and the grounds have been cleaned up. The ice cream furnished by the student body officers was plentiful and very delicious. The show furnished was "One Touch of Venus," and various shorts. The 7th grade had a roller skating party Wednesday. The Sophomore-Freshman party par-ty is scheduled for Friday night and promises to be loads of fun for all participants. The speech, music and commercial com-mercial departments are hard at work preparing for Uintah Basin Activities Days, April 20 and 21. By Joyce Burr ELEMENTARY SCHOOL All classes in our school are carrying on projects on conservation, conser-vation, with the main interest in forest conservation. Mrs. Harrison has returned from Seattle, Wash., where she attended the Association for Childhood Education International Interna-tional convention. She reports that 47 states were represented and 13 foreign countries. Fifteen hundred people were in attendance. attend-ance. Utah was represented by 90 participants. , During the week they studied problems pertinent to the growth and guidance of children.. chil-dren.. She feels that much was gained and many important ideas were exchanged at the conference. This should promote common understanding of children chil-dren and serve to improve international in-ternational relationships. On Friday, March 30, at 11 a. m. Mrs. Chugg's 2nd grade presented a little operetta called, 'Naughty Little Peter," for their assembly program. This was the story of Peter Rabbit and all members of the class took part. Included were five group dances and one tap dance. Our music director, Mrs. Schmiett, assisted greatly with the singing and dancing. Mrs. Mitchell's 1st grade is working hard to get ready an operetta which will be presented Thursday morning as its assembly assem-bly program and again Thursday Thurs-day ( night at P.T.A. meeting. Arbor Day It is good to plant trees in April and May, For it is set aside as Arbor Day. The flowers will bloom and the birds will sing. For Arbor Day is in the spring. Tiny seeds work their way out of the sod. And point their heads toward my favorite one. God. By Gloria Riding 6th Grade . Arbor Day We always welcome the month of May, We also welcome Arbor Day. It makes us thing of birds and bees And tiny seedlings that will be trees. Then tell me why we have Arbor Ar-bor Day. To celebrate a lovely way and To show how we appreciate our trees. The homes of tiny birds and bees. It's all right to welcome May, But for heaven sakes remember Arbor Day. By Evelyn Fausett 6th Grade Spring Spring is coming. Spring is coming; Birds are singing, Voices ringing; Flowers raise their pretty heads. Come now. flowers, get out of bed. Now we fly our kites on high. Fly them in the clear blue sky.
