When completed the plant will cost in excess of $150,000 and will be equipped to handle all the milk in the Basin within a radius of 50 miles of Roosevelt. Calder Bros. Co., of Vernal is building the plant. A Baptist church was recently recent-ly established at Artesia, Colorado, Colo-rado, with several persons from Roosevelt participating in the ceremonies. Through an old-time southern revival, lead by A. C. Maxwell, pastor of the First Baptist church of Houston, Texas, Tex-as, the membership of the Artesia Ar-tesia church was increased by nearly fifty members. Through E. J. Nixon, first counselor in the bishopric of the Roosevelt L.D.S. ward, permission per-mission was granted to the Roosevelt Roos-evelt and Artesia Baptist churches church-es to use the baptistry of the local ward for baptising of new members. Mr. and Mrs. James Ames, of Ioka, announce the marriage of their daughter, Luella, to Dale E Workman, son of Charles Workman, of Green River, Wyo. Mohlman. 10 Years Ago Mrs. Blanche Murphy was elected president of the Roosevelt Roos-evelt Business and Professional Women's club at a meeting held at her home Wednesday evening. Miss lone Bird, of My-ton My-ton was named vice president, Mrs. Letta Robbins, secretary, and Mrs. Thelma Ruppel, treasurer. treas-urer. Out of 28 students participating participat-ing in the annual Roosevelt seminary sem-inary oratorical contest, seven have been selected to compete in the final contest to be held at the seminary on April 20. They are Hayle Buchanan, Milton Mil-ton Nielson, Douglas Lawson, Jack Gilbert, Mary Dillman, Lois Lo-is Neilson and Carol Witbeck. Over 200 school patrons, students stu-dents and persons interested in the development of agriculture in this section attended the Moon Lake Future Farmers' annual an-nual banquet given at Altamont high school Wednesday evening. Miss Ruth Burgess, a student at the University of Utah, is one of 32 out of 165 applicants selected for enrollment in the University of Utah Medical school. Miss Burgess will graduate grad-uate from U. of U. this spring and will enter the medical school next fall. 20 Years Ago The first annual Feeders' Day for Duchesne county was held at Roosevelt Saturday. Stockmen from all parts of the Basin attended, at-tended, meeting at the Horace Allred farm at 10 a. m. They later toured the Albert Patry farm. A. A. Anderson, Scout executive exec-utive of Timpanogos council of Boy Scouts of America spent Saturday in Roosevelt in the interest of Scouting. A meeting of King's Peak council was held in the Roosevelt Commercial club Saturday, at which time Mr. Anderson announced that the Timpanogos, in addition to holding their regular annual encampment en-campment at Aspen G r o v e, would hold encampment in the Uintah Basin for one week. Ray G. Labrum and Sons this week started work on their new service station located on the southwest corner of Lagoon and Main streets, the corner now occupied by the Roosevelt City library building. The building next to the Uintah Uin-tah Power and Light company is being remodeled and as soon as completed will be occupied by the C. H. Labrum Shoe and Harness Shop. The Roosevelt Business and Professionel Women's club will sponsor a show at the Utopia theatre, Thursday. This will be Norma Shearer in "Let Us Be Gay." |
