Show teeUn-Semett Mrs. Fern Houston M.I.A. Has Speech Festival Program The speech festival given Tuesday evening by the Mutual Mu-tual was well attended. The theme was "The Land of Make Believe." Following are the participants: par-ticipants: Douglas Phillips told the Blue Ox story by Paul Bunyon; imagination im-agination story by Garr Bolton; Frances Horrocks, a retold fairy story. A debate was presented pre-sented on the subject, "Fairy stories should be taken from children's books," with Mr. Rus-son Rus-son debating the affirmative and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Haslem, of Roosevelt, the negative. Mary Margaret Horrocks sang, "Little Red Riding Hood." Games were played, lunch was served, and square dancing terminated term-inated the evening's activities. The monthly planning meeting for the M.I.A. officers was held Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Horrocks. The families of Winfred Long, Roy Murphy, and Ivan Bastian motored to Rangely, Colo., for an Easter outing. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Horrocks spent Friday evening in Roosevelt Roos-evelt with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Adams and -Mrs. Alice Labrum. Mrs. Mable Przyzyle, of San Francisco, and Olive Miller, of Springville, spent the night with their sister, Delma Long. Burns McKowan is employed at the Dugway Proving Grounds. He spent the week-end at home. Mrs. George Jenkins, of La-point La-point gave a birthday dinner on her anniversary Wednesday. Her guests were Mrs. Nellie Whit-lock, Whit-lock, Mrs. Audrey Taylor and Maxine. A family birthday dinner was given during the week for Mrs. Roxie Taylor, of Lapoint. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Taylor attended and met brothers and sisters they had not seen for a long time. Verle Haslem, now attending college at the B.Y.U.. Provo, spent the week-end at home. The people of Bennett wish to thank all who helped to extinguish extin-guish the fire the night of Mar. 25. A birthday dinner was given Thursday, March 29, for and by Nellie Horrocks. Guests were Dr. Miles Allen, of Roosevelt, Mrs. Evelyn Brighton and Doris Dor-is Haslem. Otis Horrocks visited in La-point La-point Saturday with his brother, Ronald. A baby girl was born Friday to Mr. and Mrs.' Gerold Bolton at the Roosevelt hospital. The Winfred Long family enjoyed en-joyed a birthday dinner Sunday at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Blayne Morrill, at Tridell, honoring Mr. Long on his anniversary. an-niversary. Mrs. Golda Lee, of Heber, a former resident of Bennett, visited vis-ited with Mrs. Nellie Whitlock and Audrey Taylor last Saturday. |
