Show Sheriff Deputies Monitor Hunting FARMINGTON Davis County Coun-ty sheriff deputies will be out in force for the opening of the Utah deer hunt season that begins Saturday. CAPT. K.S. Simpson, in charge of patrol for the Sheriff s Department, Depart-ment, said deputies will be patrol-ing patrol-ing the hillsides as well as setting up road blocks in the canyon exits. "We'll be working with the Wildlife Resources Division checking for firearm and liquor violations," said Capt. Simpson. "Men will be in marked cars and citations will be issued to violators'." viola-tors'." HE SAID there will be a heavy concentration of patrol the first weekend and then patrols will be carried out in selected areas for the remainder of the two-week hunt. Capt. Simpson emphasized a need for hunters to be careful not to over-extend themselves or their vehicles. "Every year we have vehicles that get stuck or rollovers because they are being driven where they shouldn't be driven,,' Capt. Simpson said. HE ALSO stressed a need for hunters to tell someone where they are going and when they will returnand re-turnand then don't change your plans. Also, wear appropriate clothes, take plenty of food and water, and carry matches in a water-proof container. "These things seem so trite but every year they save lives or cost lives of those who do not follow these simple procedures," Capt. Simpson emphasized. |
