Show iountirui Ready To Visit New Zealand By GARY R. BLODGETT On October 23 from Forum North, Whangarei, on the Island of New Zealand, Bountiful city officials offi-cials will present a beautiful plaque to the mayor of their "Sister City." THE PLAQUE - in the shape of the state of Utah and bearing the seal of Bountiful -- will be presented pre-sented to Her Worship the Mayor of Whangarei, Mrs. Joyce Ryan, and to the City Council and Community Com-munity of Whangarei by Bountiful Mayor Dean S. Stahle. Presentation of the plaque and the ceremony that will accompany the presentation will officially unite un-ite Bountiful and Whangarei as "Sister Cities." It will be a permanent perma-nent bond and goodwill between the two Sister Cities and the residents resi-dents therein. INSCRIPTION on the plaque notes that the binding together of the two cities also binds a friendship friend-ship that has existed between Utah and New Zealand for more than 100 years and will mark an enduring endur-ing relationship between Utah and New Zealand heretofore unmatched unmatch-ed in New Zealand by any other state in the United States. It further states that inasmuch as the sheaf of wheat is to Bountiful the seal and symbol of bounty and prosperity; may it further symbolize symbol-ize a Bountiful harvest of love and understanding between the two Sister Cities. A DELEGATION of 16, including includ-ing Council members Phyllis Southwick and Dean Hill along with Mayor Stahle, will leave Bountiful for a two week visit of the Sister City and all of New Zealand. Zea-land. Hence, a delegation of officials offi-cials and townspeople of Whangarei Whan-garei will visit Bountiful and Utah during next July during the Pioneer Days Celebration. |
