Show We Hope Their Mental Wounds Will Heal During the excitement of the Presidential Campaign which has just been brought to a close, considerable comment and criticism cri-ticism has been made against the Pyramid, because it would not join in the fight and take up the cause of some political issue of the hour. The Pyramid has always been an independent newspaper and it finds that it is best to keep out of politics. We sold advertising adver-tising space to both Republicans Republi-cans and Democrats in which they expressed their views upon up-on paramount issues of the hour. Our advertising space is for sale just the same as the merchant I sells shoes and other goods from his stock. We have no apologies to make for anything that was said in these advertising columns as it was sold to the respective parties part-ies for their own use under the heading of advertisement. One week there were complaints com-plaints made from one source that the paper was Republican and the next week there were complaints made that it had gone Democratic, in spite of the fact that the editor had not written a single article upon political issues or made any comments in its columns. It was more than some of its subscribers could bear and on the eve of election three of its patrons (who by the way were each more than one year in ar-rear ar-rear in their subscription) namely: S. P. Sorenson, C. J. Chriscensen and Jos. Jordan, severed their names from the mailing list. It was not a total loss, however, as they paid up all back dues and upon learning what had been noised about, other subscribers came in and ordered the paper sent to their friends. Seven new names were added to the list and we are daily adding more. |
