Show Another Pioneer Citizen Passed From Mortality. Hans J. Brown. County Horticulture Horticul-ture Inspector, died in this city, after af-ter a three week's illness Nov. 4, 1912. '-Deceased was the son of Jor-gn Jor-gn J. Brown and Maren Hansen. He was born in Sorup, orrthe Island of Fyen, Denmark, July 1, 1838. He joined the Mormon church in June 1857, afier which he labored as a local missionary in Fyen and LanKeland, for four and one-half years, with much success. He emigrated emi-grated to Utah in 1862 and located in Mount Pleasant. In the same year April 13th. he Married AnnaNielson. From 18X2 to 18S4, he performed another mission in his native land, laboring mostly in Randers and-Odense and-Odense branches. April 21, 1869 he was married to Anna Christine Niel-son, Niel-son, with whom he had eight children, chil-dren, three sons and five daughters. His first wife and two children have gone before him. During a busy life he has held a number of positions of trust and responsibility, re-sponsibility, both in a civil and ecclesiastical ec-clesiastical way, and has well-earned the love and esteem in which he was held in this community. A large concourse of people were gathered at the funeral services held Nov. 6th in the South Ward Chapel. Following were the speakers: C. W. Sorenson, Simon T. Beck, Pres. C N. Lund, Geo. Christensen, Samuel i Allred and Bp. James Larsen, all of whom paid tribute to the good character, char-acter, life and labor of the departed one. m |
