Show 00 VEGETABLES REPLACE BULBS. LEYDEN, Netherlands, Jan. 31. (Mall) No longer will tho famous road to Haarlom present an uninterrupted uninter-rupted vista of flowering bulbs, when spring comes. Tho bulb business, which has been seriously hit by tho war, offers such poor prospects that many growers have partly abandoned bulb planting and have taken to vegetable vege-table raising instead. Extensive vegetable vege-table drying sheds have arisen alongside along-side tho canals where in previous years banks of mlliti-colored tulips and hyacinths delighted the eye. So far, the facilities for drying vegetables, especially es-pecially cabbages and carrots, are limited lim-ited to about COO tons a week. |
